49. Wordsift

In previous posts I have written about word cloud generators.Applications that work on the frequency of words. The more frequent the word is used, the greater the dimensions of that word become. The labels  diagram on the side of this blog is a cloud generator. While there are many of these type of  applications available I have written  twoposts about Wordle and Tagexdo. In the last few weeks I have discovered and used Wordsift. This has many possibilities  for older students when using text, either self written or text from articles. Wordsift offers many features from showing frequency of words, to support English and word study.
Some of the features include:
1. 50 most frequent words
2. Alphabetizing those words
3. Offering definitions of words clicked
4. Related words
6. Connected words with other curriculum subjects
7. Highlighting of chosen word/ words in the article/ writing
8. Ranking words from common to rare
